Following what both facilitators describe as an “extraordinary” session on Jan. 28, the “Elements of Healing” workshop series continues on Feb. 25. “Water” is the inspiration for the two-and-a-half hour event, which is open to everyone. It is not necessary to have participated in the first workshop to attend.
Workshop participants learn breathing exercises combined with gentle movement from Chinese wellness principles, as well as healing imagery/meditation from native cultures.
According to Dr. Rick Pimental-Habib, one of the facilitators, “Our first in the ‘Elements of Healing’ workshop series, ‘Earth,’ allowed us to learn breathing, grounding, and energy healing techniques as well as to experience a deep meditation inspired by the powerful imagery of nature.”
Co-facilitator Stephen Cavitt added, “Native meditations succeed because they are unique to each person. They draw from all your life experiences of the soothing qualities of nature. So, the images show up in a way that’s perfect for you right now.”
One participant in “Earth” commented: “The event was the most amazing one I have attended in a very long time. Very well organized with great components. I learned so much from the experience! Thank you.”
“Just as Earth imagery inspired us to feel grounded and connected, the imagery of water for our second workshop will remind us that we are all connected at some deep level through compassion, understanding, love and hope. And, as looking down at the waters of a clear, still lake reflects back to us exactly ‘what is,’ we’ll create a safe space to see ‘what is’ within our own lives, so we can begin to heal that which needs healing,” said Dr. Pimental-Habib.
“Water is one of the oldest healing images,” said Cavitt. “Along with its stillness, water teaches us to surrender and go with the flow. So, we’ll also draw from this ancient metaphor of water to connect with the part of ourselves that is flexible, always changing, always new.”
